Publishing and Alternative Licensing Models (PALM)
The PALM Africa project is researching how open content approaches employing flexible licensing could work in conjunction with local publishing in developing countries to improve access to learning materials.

The Publishing Matrix
The Publishing Matrix project, funded by the Shuttleworth Foundation and the Open Society Institute, is providing, in the form of a wiki, an overview of the workings of the South African publishing industry - formal and informal - to allow researchers, open access activists and funders to better understand the context in which they are operating.
